Intended Use | Designed for legacy multi-axis servo motion applications. 1394 GMC system and axis modules run the servo axes on the installed base of packaging, converting and material-handling machines built in the 1990s and 2000s, under a Logix SERCOS module or the integrated GMC motion controller. |
Migration Path | Rockwell Automation has discontinued the 1394 servo system. Published successor for the 1394 GMC / SERCOS servo system: Kinetix 5700 (2198) with MP-Series or VPL motors.
A like-for-like replacement or a repair keeps the existing program, wiring and panel layout; a migration is a project. Both are listed on this page so the choice can be made on lead time and budget. |
