Intended Use

Intended for SLC 500 chassis power applications. The supply feeds backplane power to the processor and I/O in a 1746 rack; the model is chosen for the plant's control voltage and the rack's total module load.

Migration Path

Rockwell Automation has discontinued the SLC 500 platform, including 1746 I/O. Published successor for the SLC 500 1746 I/O: the equivalent Compact 5000 (5069) or 1769 Compact I/O module.

With a 1747-AENTR in slot 0, the existing 1746 rack can keep running as EtherNet/IP remote I/O under a CompactLogix or ControlLogix, so I/O modules can be replaced like-for-like until the rack is converted.
1492-CM1746 conversion modules and pre-wired cables land the existing 1746 terminal-block wiring on the new module without re-terminating field devices.
