Intended Use

Intended for EtherNet/IP networking and remote I/O applications. The bridge connects a ControlLogix chassis to distributed I/O, drives, HMIs and other controllers over Ethernet, and uplinks the rack to plant and business networks. Dual-port versions build device-level ring (DLR) topologies for fault-tolerant machine networks.

Migration Path

Rockwell Automation has discontinued the 1756-ENBT. Published successor for the 1756-ENBT EtherNet/IP bridge: 1756-EN2T, or 1756-EN2TR where a Device Level Ring or dual ports are wanted.

Same slot and RJ-45 connection; in the Logix project change the module type (or set Electronic Keying to Disable Keying during the swap) and download.
The EN2T supports 256 CIP connections against 128 on the ENBT and a higher packet rate, so no existing connection budget is lost.
