Migration Path

Rockwell Automation has discontinued the MicroLogix 1500. Published successor for the MicroLogix 1500: Micro870 (2080-L70E) or CompactLogix 5370 L1 (1769-L16ER-BB1B / L18ER-BB1B) where 1769 expansion I/O must be kept.

  • Connected Components Workbench's RSLogix 500 program converter moves the program into a Micro870 project; for a Logix target use the Studio 5000 project translation tool.
  • The 1769 Compact I/O attached to a 1764 base is reused directly on a CompactLogix 5370 L1/L2, which is the path when the I/O count is what drove the 1500.

A like-for-like replacement or a repair keeps the existing program, wiring and panel layout; a migration is a project. Both are listed on this page so the choice can be made on lead time and budget.
