Part Number Decoder | PanelView 600 Color keypad/touch terminal 2711B6C20
Decoded from the Rockwell Automation catalog-number structure. Series and firmware revision are printed on the product label, not encoded here. | ||||||||
Series & Revisions | No series in stock today; request a series above. The catalog suffix, not the series, sets input type, communication port and power; series tracked firmware revisions. Series notes: Same cutout and connector across series. A later series runs the existing PanelBuilder32 application; an earlier one may need it re-saved for its firmware. | ||||||||
Intended Use | Designed for legacy machine operator interface (HMI) applications. PanelView Standard terminals are the operator screens on the installed base of SLC 500, PLC-5 and MicroLogix machines, communicating over DH-485, DH+, Remote I/O, DeviceNet, ControlNet or RS-232 and running PanelBuilder32 applications. | ||||||||
Migration Path | Rockwell Automation has discontinued PanelView Standard terminals. Published successor for the PanelView Standard: PanelView Plus 7 Standard 2711P-T6C21D8S (6.5-in.).
A like-for-like replacement or a repair keeps the existing program, wiring and panel layout; a migration is a project. Both are listed on this page so the choice can be made on lead time and budget. | ||||||||

Common Failures
Failure patterns we regularly see on PanelView 600 Color keypad/touch terminal hardware like the 2711-B6C20:
- Communication port failure: DH+, DH-485, RIO, DeviceNet, ControlNet or RS-232 line driver damaged by a surge or ground loop
- Vertical lines or missing rows on the LCD: panel or flex-cable failure
- Keypad overlay cracked, peeling or with legends worn off the high-use keys
- Touch digitizer dead zones or drift on the combined keypad/touch models
- Application lost or terminal restarts in configuration mode after a power event: flash memory fault
Fault indicator reference
2711-B6C20 Fault Indicators
6 states · 2711-UM014
A PanelView 600 Color keypad/touch terminal has no numeric fault code display. Faults are signalled by the COMM (green) and Fault (red) status indicators (on the PanelView 300 Micro, shown on the Communication Setup screen), as documented in Rockwell Automation publication 2711-UM014. Use these states to tell a firmware or application problem from a hardware failure before sending the unit in for repair.
Status indicator states
| Indicators | State | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|
| Comm on · Fault off | Normal operation | No communication faults; application running. |
| Comm off | Communication fault / hardware failed | DF1, DH-485, DH+ and Remote I/O terminals: fault detected; check the controller is in Run mode, baud / rack settings and cabling. DeviceNet, ControlNet and EtherNet/IP terminals: communication hardware failed. |
| Comm blinking | No communication established | No connection to the controller (Remote I/O: the PLC may be in Program mode). DF1 terminals blink until an application is loaded. |
| Comm flashing | Power-up | Momentary at power-up while self-tests run; normal. |
| Fault on | Fault detected | Cycle power; if the fault remains the terminal needs servicing. On DeviceNet / ControlNet / EtherNet/IP terminals a solid Fault indicator means hardware failed. |
| Fault blinking | No application loaded or application corrupt | Hardware is working; reload the application into the terminal. |
Where the manual's only remedy for a code is to replace the unit or module, the code is pointing at a hardware fault inside that part. Those are the faults NJT Automation repairs at component level, so a repair quote is usually the first thing to check before buying a replacement.
