Intended Use

Built for precision servo positioning applications. Panasonic MINAS A5 servo drives and motors run pick-and-place, semiconductor, electronics assembly, labeling and small robotics axes that need high-resolution feedback and fast settling.

Migration Path

Panasonic has ended production of the MINAS A5 series and publishes MINAS A6 as its replacement. Published successor for the Panasonic MINAS A5 / A5II: the equivalent MINAS A6 drive (A6SF / A6SE, same frame letter) and A6 motor of the same frame size.

  • A6 motors keep the A5 flange, shaft and mounting dimensions for the equivalent frame, but the encoder changes to 23-bit absolute, so drive and motor are replaced as a pair rather than mixed.
  • Panasonic's A5-to-A6 replacement guide cross-references drive and motor part numbers and parameter changes; set-up moves to PANATERM for A6.

A like-for-like replacement or a repair keeps the existing program, wiring and panel layout; a migration is a project. Both are listed on this page so the choice can be made on lead time and budget.
