Fault code reference
1763-L16AWA Fault Codes
44 codes · 1763-RM001
Fault codes a MicroLogix 1100 controller reports on the controller LCD and status word S:6 in RSLogix 500 / RSLogix Micro (hexadecimal), as documented in Rockwell Automation publication 1763-RM001. Use them to narrow a problem down to the unit, its wiring or the application before sending it in for repair.
| Code | Fault | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|
| 0001 | NVRAM error | Program memory was corrupted (power loss during download, noise, failing battery) and the default program was loaded. |
| 0002 | Unexpected reset | The controller reset unexpectedly due to noise or an internal hardware failure; the default program is loaded. |
| 0003 | Memory module program corrupt | Memory module memory error; can also appear when going to Run mode. |
| 0004 | Memory integrity error | ROM or RAM became corrupt at power-up or during the background integrity check. |
| 0006 | Memory module hardware fault | The memory module hardware faulted or is incompatible with the operating system. |
| 0007 | Memory module transfer error | Failure during memory module transfer. |
| 0008 | Fatal internal software error | Unexpected software error; cycle power and reload the program. |
| 0009 | Fatal internal hardware error | Unexpected hardware error; cycle power and reload the program. |
| 000A | OS missing or corrupt | The operating system required for the user program is missing or corrupt. |
| 000B | Base hardware fault | The base hardware faulted or is incompatible with the operating system. |

| 0011 | Executable file 2 missing | Ladder file 2 is missing from the program. |
| 0012 | Ladder program error | The ladder program has a memory integrity problem. |
| 0015 | I/O configuration file error | The user program I/O configuration is invalid. |
| 0016 | Startup protection fault | The user fault routine ran at power-up and S:1/13 was not cleared. |
| 0017 | NVRAM / memory module mismatch | S:2/9 is set and the memory module program does not match the controller program. |
| 0018 | Memory module program incompatible with OS | The program stored in the memory module needs a newer operating system. |
| 001A | User program incompatible with OS | The user program is incompatible with the controller operating system. |
| 0020 | Minor error at end of scan | A minor fault bit (S:5 bits 0–7) was set at the end of the scan. |
| 0022 | Watchdog timer expired | The program scan time exceeded the watchdog timeout in S:3H. |
| 0023 | STI error | An error occurred in the STI configuration; see the STI function file. |
| 0028 | Invalid user fault routine | The fault routine number in S:29 is invalid or the routine does not exist. |
| 0029 | Indirect address outside data space | An indirect address reference is outside the entire data file space. |
| 002E | EII error | An error occurred in the EII configuration; see the EII function file. |
| 0030 | Subroutine nesting exceeds limit | JSR nesting exceeded the controller memory space. |

Where the manual's only remedy for a code is to replace the unit or module, the code is pointing at a hardware fault inside that part. Those are the faults NJT Automation repairs at component level, so a repair quote is usually the first thing to check before buying a replacement.
