Intended Use | Designed for multi-axis coordinated servo motion applications. Kinetix 6000 integrated axis modules supply the DC bus and run the first axis for coordinated multi-axis machines: packaging, converting, printing, web handling, material handling and pick-and-place, with SERCOS or EtherNet/IP motion from a Logix controller. | ||

Common Failures
Failure patterns we regularly see on Kinetix 6000 / 2000 integrated axis module (IAM) hardware like the 2093 AC05:
- Precharge fault (E35): precharge resistor open or precharge relay failed, so the DC bus never charges and the rail will not come up
- Internal shunt transistor or shunt resistor failure: bus overvoltage on every deceleration
- Converter section failure: input rectifier or converter IGBT module blown after a line-side surge, missing phase, or a shorted axis downstream
- Cooling fan worn out: heatsink overtemperature trips and thermal stress on the power stage
- IPM fault (E05) on the integrated axis: inverter IGBT module shorted after a motor or cable fault, gate driver board damaged with it

2093 AC05 Fault Codes
40 codes · 2093-UM001
Fault codes a Kinetix 2000 servo drive reports on the seven-segment status indicator on the IAM or AM module and the axis fault in RSLogix 5000, as documented in Rockwell Automation publication 2093-UM001. Use them to narrow a problem down to the unit, its wiring or the application before sending it in for repair.
| Code | Fault | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|
| E00 | Blown fuse | A blown fuse was detected on the inverter board; the module needs repair. |
| E04 | Motor overtemperature | Motor thermal switch tripped: high ambient, excessive current, wiring error or wrong motor. |
| E05 | Drive overcurrent (power fault) | The Intelligent Power Module tripped: shorted motor cables or windings, drive too hot, or a failed power stage. |
| E06 | Hardware overtravel | The axis moved beyond the physical travel limit input. |
| E07 | Motor feedback loss | Motor feedback wiring is open, shorted or missing. |
| E09 | Bus undervoltage | DC bus below limit with three-phase power present, or power removed while an axis was enabled. |
| E10 | Bus overvoltage | DC bus above limit, usually excessive regeneration. |
| E11 | Illegal Hall state | Hall feedback inputs are in an invalid state; check wiring at the MF connector. |
| E16 | Software overtravel | Axis position exceeded the software travel limit. |
| E18 | Overspeed | Motor speed exceeded 150% of maximum rated speed. |

| E19 | Follow error | Position error limit exceeded; check tuning, feed-forward and mechanical load. |
| E20 | Motor feedback AQB | The motor encoder encountered an illegal quadrature transition, usually noise. |
| E21 | Aux feedback comm | Communication was not established with an intelligent auxiliary encoder. |
| E30 | Motor feedback comm | Communication was not established with the intelligent motor encoder. |
| E34 | Ground fault | Excessive ground current detected in the converter: wiring, motor ground short or internal fault. |
| E35 | Precharge fault | The converter precharge cycle failed: low AC input or an internal fault. |
| E36 | System overtemperature | Converter thermal switch tripped: excessive heat in the power circuitry. |
| E37 | Phase loss | One or more AC input phases missing, or the axis was enabled when main power was removed. |
| E38 | SERCOS ring fault | The SERCOS fiber ring dropped after being active; check fiber connections. |
| E39 | Self-sense fault | Self-sensing commutation start-up was obstructed. |
| E43 | Drive enable fault | Enable was attempted through software while the hardware enable input was inactive, or the input dropped. |
| E50 | SERCOS same address | Duplicate node address detected on the SERCOS ring. |
| E54 | Current feedback hardware fault | Current feedback hardware fault detected inside the drive; a hardware fault on the drive's control/power electronics that repair addresses. |
| E60 | Unknown axis | Illegal ID bits detected; a hardware fault inside the drive rather than in the wiring or application. |
| E61 / E62 | Aux feedback AQB / loss | Auxiliary encoder illegal transition, or auxiliary feedback wiring open / shorted / missing. |
| E65 | Hookup fault | The hookup test failed: motor power / feedback wiring or feedback device. |
| E66 | Autotune fault | The autotune procedure failed. |
| E67 | Task init | Operating system failed to initialize; hardware failure if it persists after a power cycle. |
| E68 | SCANport comm | DPI communication failed; check the device and cable. |
| E69 | Objects init | Non-volatile memory corrupt due to control-board hardware failure. |
| E70 | NV memory init | Non-volatile memory corrupt; load defaults and save. |
| E71 | Memory init | RAM or flash validation failure; if it persists through a power cycle, the fault is in the drive's control board. |
| E72 | Drive overtemperature | Inverter thermal switch tripped: failed fan, high cabinet ambient or excessive duty cycle. |
| E73 | Backplane comm | Power-rail CAN communication failed; check module seating and the power rail. |
| E74 | Bus overcurrent | DC link current exceeded rating; motor or transmission problem, or an undersized IAM. |
| E75 | Shunt time out | The IAM, AM or shunt module exceeded its shunt resistor continuous rating. |
| E76 | CAN init | DPI hardware initialization fault; control-board hardware failure. |
| E78 | SERCOS init | Control hardware fault detected at SERCOS initialization. |
| E79 | Shunt module fault | The shunt module reports a temperature or shunt fault, or is missing from the power rail. |
| E80 | CPLD fault | Control hardware fault detected; a fault inside the drive's control electronics. |
Where the manual's only remedy for a code is to replace the unit or module, the code is pointing at a hardware fault inside that part. Those are the faults NJT Automation repairs at component level, so a repair quote is usually the first thing to check before buying a replacement.
