Intended Use | Built for compact multi-axis servo motion applications. Kinetix 2000 axis modules add axes on the shared power rail for low-power, multi-axis machines such as small packaging, labeling, converting and medical equipment, with SERCOS motion from a Logix controller.
Migration Path | Rockwell Automation has discontinued the Kinetix 2000. Published successor for the Kinetix 2000: Kinetix 5500 (2198-H) for low-power multi-axis systems, or Kinetix 5700 where axis counts and power are growing.
A like-for-like replacement or a repair keeps the existing program, wiring and panel layout; a migration is a project. Both are listed on this page so the choice can be made on lead time and budget.

Failure patterns we regularly see on Kinetix 2000 axis module (AM) hardware like the 2093-AMP2:
- Motor brake output failure: brake relay or brake driver on the control board not releasing the motor brake
- Ground fault (E34) that follows the module, not the motor: IGBT leakage or a current sensor fault
- IPM fault (E05): inverter IGBT module shorted after a motor or cable fault, usually taking the gate driver board with it
- Power rail connector pins bent, burned or backed out: module not recognized in that slot
- sercos ring fault (E50): failed fiber-optic transmitter or receiver on the axis module
