Series & Revisions

Series A and B in stock; other series on request.

Intended Use

Designed for high-performance vector drive applications. PowerFlex 700 drives handle demanding loads such as extruders, winders, cranes and hoists, centrifuges, test stands and large conveyors, with flux vector control, encoder feedback, torque control and DPI communication adapters.

Migration Path

Rockwell Automation has discontinued the PowerFlex 700. Published successor for the PowerFlex 700: PowerFlex 753 20F11ND052AA0NNNNN (same voltage class and normal-duty current), or the equivalent PowerFlex 755 (20G) for embedded EtherNet/IP and more option slots.

  • Rockwell's PowerFlex 700 to PowerFlex 750-Series migration guide carries a parameter cross-reference; parameters are re-entered or mapped, not copied, because the 750-Series parameter numbering differs.
  • The HIM and communication adapters change: 20-HIM-A3/A5 give way to 20-HIM-A6/C6, and 20-COMM-x adapters to 20-750-xxx option modules (the 755 has EtherNet/IP embedded).
  • Frame sizes and mounting differ between a PowerFlex 700 and the equivalent 753/755, so check the panel layout and the 750-TD001 dimensions before ordering.

A like-for-like replacement or a repair keeps the existing program, wiring and panel layout; a migration is a project. Both are listed on this page so the choice can be made on lead time and budget.

Common 20BD052A3AYNAND0 failures

Failure patterns we regularly see on PowerFlex 700 vector control AC drive hardware like the 20BD052A3AYNAND0:

  • DC bus capacitor aging: undervoltage trips (F4) or a drive that will not finish precharge
  • Precharge relay / circuit failure leaving the drive stuck in precharge
  • Hardware overcurrent (F12) or ground fault (F13) from a failed power stage after a motor or cable short
  • Heatsink overtemperature (F8) from a failed fan or blocked airflow
  • Control board failure: no display, no response or a HIM that never connects

Repair or replace?

ReplaceReplacement PowerFlex 700 vector control AC drive units are usually surplus or refurbished. Replace the 20BD052A3AYNAND0 when the motor is down and a same-rating drive is available. The parameters copy across with a HIM or DriveExplorer. Order the exact 20BD052A3AYNAND0. The catalog number sets the 40 Hp, 480V AC rating, and a different suffix changes it. We have the 20BD052A3AYNAND0 in stock. Order before 5:00 PM Central and it ships the same day.
RepairAt 40 Hp, repairing the 20BD052A3AYNAND0 usually costs well under half of a replacement. Power modules, bus capacitors, precharge circuits and fans are replaced and the drive is load-tested, so you keep a drive whose parameters and option cards already match the machine. The two 20BD052A3AYNAND0 symptoms we see most often are “DC bus capacitor aging” and “Precharge relay / circuit failure”. If a replacement is already installed, repairing the failed 20BD052A3AYNAND0 gives you a tested spare on the shelf, which is worth more on an older platform where a matching unit can take time to source. Our estimated $2,575.00 repair of the 20BD052A3AYNAND0 includes full-function testing and a 1-year warranty.
